» Interoperability with vendor-
independent, Bluetooth standard-
compliant devices.
» Up to 723.2 Kbps basic data rate,
enhanced rate up to 2.1Mbps
(asymmetrical) or 1.5Mbps
(symmetrical). Asymmetrical rates are
used for data transfer (PC to mobile
phone or PC to web); symmetrical rates
are used for voice (mobile phone to
headset).
» Decent speed within a convenient range
between Bluetooth-enable devices.
» Operation range depends on antenna
capability.
» Security protection for data transferred
in the air among Bluetooth-enable
devices.
» Uses Enhanced Inquiry Scan for
immediate Frequency Hopping
Synchronization (FHS) response.
» Automatically selects any unused
frequency channels to establish a
connection.
» Maintains a high level of connection
when operating in environments where
2.4GHz Wi-Fi devices are also present.
For those without Wi-Fi at home, at school, in the office or outdoor, Bluetooth provides
a convenient and cost-effective wireless networking solution. Applications include web
access on PDA and laptops at unconnected locations, wireless network printer sharing
and wireless access to Ethernet LAN servers and Internet/Intranet services from
Bluetooth-enabled devices.
D-Link Bluetooth 2.0 offers up to 2.1Mbps asymmetrical and 1.5Mbps symmetrical data
transfer rates - three times the speed of Bluetooth devices using the earlier 1.x standards.
Operating on the globally available 2.4GHz radio frequency, Bluetooth 2.0 is backward
compatible with Bluetooth 1.1 and 1.2 devices and transfers data with them using the
lower Bluetooth 1.1/1.2 transmission speeds.
Low power consumption is designed into D-Link Bluetooth; a result is a very low power
demand on the portable devices. This saves the battery power while giving users the
freedom to roam among the Bluetooth-enabled devices.
